Default Legacy Of Videl - Chapter 1 - Beginnings

The very idea of a monk and necromancer in love was unheard of back then, let alone being married. But for Bryann and Azanna Videl, that was the case so long ago.

It is said that love works in mysterious ways and it is truly a mystery as to what drawn the two together. Bryann, the pale skinned necromancer, was a strong and often misunderstood man in the eyes of "normal" folk. His eyes is a light shade of black, perhaps a grey, and with very short brown hair. Azanna, average in height, had black hair down just slightly below the shoulders and dark blue eyes. For many months, they would travel from one village to another and in each one, they were not welcomed to stay for long. Finding shelter for the night or food to eat was difficult.

All that changed upon arriving at Ashford Village, located a short distance south of Ascalon City. It was there that the couple would finally make a home of their own and be greeted warmly by their new neighbors. The next year, Azanna gave birth to a pale skinned baby girl. Unfortunately, the pain and labor was too much for Azanna's body to take and lost her life as a result. Saddened over this tragic loss, Bryann decided to name his daughter in memory of his departed beloved.

And so, the name would be known as... Azinna Videl.

In the months that followed, Bryann struggled to watch over her and maintain a steady living working with other necromancers in the catacombs, preventing the gargoyles and undead within from escaping. One day, he acquired the services of a female monk to watch over Azinna. Her name was Andariel Vadalla. As strange as it seemed, she beared a slight resemblance to Azanna, only with longer brown hair and green eyes. Even her skin was a tad pale, yet having no necromancer relatives of her own. Over time, Bryann and Andariel fell in love and eventually became married. As the years went past and Azinna grew, Andariel taught her the ways of healing and protection that monks are famous for.

During this time of training, the family was blessed once more. One night as they slept, there was a knock on their cottage door. Laying on the steps was a large basket with 2 female infants inside, both light skinned but not pale as Azinna. Each beared a profession token in the form of a necklace. One monk, one mesmer. They were both adopted into the family. The monk child would be named Alexis and the mesmer named Violet, because of her token being purple in color. When they were both old enough, Alexis joined Azinna in monk studies. Violet, on the other hand, required a different teacher. Neither Andariel or Bryann have any knowledge of mesmer magics. Fortunately, a well known mesmer named Althea from Ascalon City agreed to provide Violet the proper training.

When the sisters were almost of adult age, tragedy struck. As they were coming home from the city one afternoon, their cottage was discovered to have been what appeared to be attacked... but with a strange spiritual aura about it. Unsafe to enter, there was nothing any of the three could do. Their parents were nowhere to be found. One man who witnessed the events unfold claimed the forces from the Underworld consumed the cottage, taking Bryann and Andariel back with them. Why they would do this, the reason is unknown.

With nothing left but each other and fond memories, the Videl sisters mourned and later prepared to enter the Ascalon Academy. Their training would continue in a small land a short distance away by boat. Many students were going that day and seating arrangements were limited. Azinna and Violet would be in one boat, while Alexis is in another. And off they went, to new adventures and studies.

Great storytelling. A lot of info to digest in those few paragraphs. Slow your writing down a bit more and make it like the first few paragraphs where you gave insight on a situation.

Other than that, I can say that I am really looking forward to chapter 2. Keep up the good work.

(I can't see where you are headed with this? What adventures will our sisters run into? Can't wait.)
